There are three international research programmes in operation under the auspices of the Martti Ahtisaari Institute. The research programmes produce new knowledge regarding the functioning of global growth companies and of the global economy. In addition, they contribute particularly to developing the content of the Masterīs programmes at the Martti Ahtisaari Institute as well as conduce to the internationalisation and growth within northern Finnish industrial life and individual companies.
The research programme Mergers and Acquisitions as a Strategy for Growth (MASG) studies the role that international business acquisitions and fusions play in the growth strategies of high technology firms. The research programme Oulu Growth Lab (OGL) focuses on the challenges faced in developing growth strategies as well as growth models for fast-growing small and middle-sized enterprises and in creating new business enterprises. The Energy, Biodiversity and Natural Resources (EBN) research programme focuses on the functioning of the global energy markets from the economic point-of-view and the cost and benefit of securing natureīs biodiversity.
