The international English-language Masterīs Programmes at Oulu Business School, University of Oulu are conducted at the Martti Ahtisaari Institute. The aim of the institute is to provide education for business and economics professional from developing economies and developing countries as well as from northern Finland.
The education is carried out in three international Masterīs programmes, with more than 100 students from e.g. China, United States, Russia, Germany and India. In addition, the Institute has two Executive Education programmes: Executive MBA programme and international Full-time MBA programme.
The research activities of the Martti Ahtisaari Institute focus on the challenges companies operating in the global arena are facing in terms of their growth and development, as well as the functioning of the global energy market. The aim of the research activities is to produce new knowledge of the functioning of global economies and to support the development of especially northern Finnish growth companies.
In addition, the institute inaugurated a Top Level Seminar series in 2010. The keynote speaker at the first seminar organised in February 2010 was President Martti Ahtisaari, followed in 2010 by Sauli Niinistö, the Speaker for the Finnish Parliament, and EU Commissioner Olli Rehn in March 2011. The purpose of the Seminar Series is to bring together representatives of business life, industrial life, and universities to discuss the challenges presented by global business and global economy and to create new aspects and tools for the purpose of developing northern Finnish economic life.
